Living forward, understanding backwards, Part II.

چکیده
In Part I of this article, which appeared in last month's AJOI', AOI'A President Robert K. Bing examined the founding principles of occupational therapy developed and published in 1925, and offered comments from some pioneering occupational therapists that helped determine how the principles were enacted in practice. This month in Part II Bing continues with more comments from the profession's pioneers, and he advances some thoughts on the principles for contemporary practice and future endeavors.

Making room for grief: walking backwards and living forward.
In this paper, the authors describe an aspect of a program of research around grief and clinical practice. The first phase of the study involves examination of experiences of grief with attention to troublesome or problematic beliefs that fuel the extent of suffering in the bereaved. The data, obtained from a review of videotaped clinical interviews with families seen in the Family Nursing Unit...
متن کاملBackwards Induction versus Forward Induction Reasoning
In this paper we want to shed some further light on what we mean by backwards induction and forward induction reasoning in dynamic games. To that purpose, we take the concepts of common belief in future rationality (Perea (2010)) and extensive form rationalizability (Pearce (1984), Battigalli (1997), Battigalli and Siniscalchi (2002)) as possible representatives for backwards induction and forw...
متن کاملA kinematic comparison of forward and backward swimming in the eel anguilla anguilla
In addition to forward undulatory swimming, eels (and some other elongated swimmers) can swim backwards in a similar way. We compared the kinematics (wave speed, cycle frequency, amplitude, local bending and estimated muscle strain) of forward and backward swimming in the European eel Anguilla anguilla. Both swimming modes are characterised by a wave of undulation that travels over the body in ...
متن کاملBackwards Forward Induction
In this paper we isolate a particular refinement of the notion of Nash equilibrium that is characterized by (i) the fact that it provides a unified framework for both backwards and forward induction; and (ii) by the fact that it is mechanically computable. We provide an effective procedure, whose definition embodies certain given principles of rationality. Such a procedure allows us, given a re...
